1. Before you delete
- Cancel renewal: use VULT’s billing controls, the Stripe customer portal or your app-store subscription settings. See cancellation details.
- Export what you need: use Profile’s export controls for a PDF report or CSV data. Keep original bank statements and receipts separately.
- Check shared budgets: discuss any records another participant needs and avoid deleting something without understanding the shared impact.
- Check other devices: note where you have local budgets, downloads, browser storage or backups. Account deletion cannot clear every independent copy.
2. Delete inside VULT
Sign in, open Profile or Settings, select the account row and choose Delete my account. Read the confirmation carefully before proceeding. Labels can differ with the app version. The signed-in control requests deletion of the account and associated cloud information; it is not merely an email to support.
If the app reports a failure, do not assume deletion is complete. Contact support with the error and approximate time. Never send a password, passcode or one-time code. After deletion you may no longer be able to sign in to retrieve your cloud records.
3. If you cannot access the app
Email [email protected] from the address used for your VULT account, with the subject “VULT account deletion request”. If you no longer control that address, explain the situation so we can discuss proportionate verification.
Email an account deletion request ↗
Opening the email link does not submit or complete a request; you must send the email. We may verify account ownership before taking action. You do not need to provide a reason for leaving or send your entire budget to make the request. Ask for confirmation of the outcome if anything is unclear.
4. What account deletion covers
The account-deletion process is intended to remove your sign-in account and associated profile, synced finance data, private Finance Manager history and memory, saved onboarding progress and other account-linked records. Shared conversations or records involving other members require consideration of their records and rights; contact support if a particular shared item needs attention.
Temporary onboarding receipts use a separate scan-token system. Results expire after 7 days and are physically cleaned up by later scan activity, rather than necessarily at the exact expiry time. If an unfinished scan or other item appears to remain, tell support so it can be checked.
5. Information that may remain
Some billing, transaction-confirmation, support, fraud-prevention or legal records may need to be retained for a legitimate purpose or legal obligation. Backup and service-provider copies follow their own deletion processes. We do not promise immediate erasure from every backup or provider system. Retention must remain limited to a lawful need.
Copies you downloaded, messages already received by others, data in your own backups and budgets stored only on another device may remain outside the account-deletion process. Remove unwanted local app/browser storage and exports from each device you control. Check your operating-system backup settings before assuming an uninstall removes every copy.
6. You may not need to close the account
To stop future charges, cancel the subscription rather than deleting the account first. To clear only a private Finance Manager conversation, choose Start a fresh thread; this clears its latest 60 messages and up to 12 memory items, not your budget. It does not reset the 30-successful-replies-per-local-day allowance.
If information is wrong or you want a copy, ask for correction or access instead of deleting everything. If your concern is a shared budget, ask support about the specific sharing issue. Do not rely on clearing a conversation to erase household messages or third-party provider logs.
7. Questions or unresolved requests
Contact [email protected] with your account email, the date of your request and the information you are concerned about. We will assess the request and explain any verification or lawful retention issue. A specific universal deletion deadline is not promised here.
